A refrigeration concern creates two immediate conversations: what happens to the equipment, and what happens to the load. They are related, but they are not the same decision. This edition helps keep the information connected while each responsible person handles the appropriate next step.
This Edition’s Action: Check Your Contact Handoff
Before the next issue occurs, identify who the driver contacts about a temperature concern, who handles cargo decisions, and who authorizes equipment repair. Make the contacts available where the driver can find them. A repair shop cannot infer a shipment’s acceptance criteria from the unit’s setpoint.
Use a short note with separate fields for the unit identity, alarm message, displayed reading, time, operating mode, and cargo contact. If product information is available through the normal handling process, label it clearly rather than combining it with the refrigeration display reading.
Do Not Lose the Timeline
Record when the concern started, the last known normal observation, and any loading or door-opening events the driver can confirm. Preserve the exact alarm message. If there is a gap in the history, mark it as a gap. A complete-looking report built on assumptions is harder to investigate than an honest account of what is known.

The reefer temperature service handoff guide explains what to capture and how to separate equipment observations from product decisions. Review the existing transport refrigeration maintenance article alongside the instructions for your specific unit.
Connect the Repair to the Unit Record
After service, retain the findings with the refrigeration unit’s identity and operating hours where available. If tractors or trailers change assignments, that record should still identify which refrigeration equipment received the work. Give follow-up instructions to the next operator rather than leaving them only in the approval contact’s inbox.
Big Rig Fixer provides transport refrigeration repair in Carol Stream. Request Service with the unit details and explain whether the trailer is loaded. For a time-sensitive concern, call (630) 520-0103 and coordinate cargo decisions through your established procedure.
Keep Equipment and Cargo Contacts Visible
Record who can authorize unit service and who decides what happens to the load. They may be different people. Keep both contacts with the temperature record and the service request, so a repair discussion does not accidentally become an unsupported decision about product condition.
